I am looking for some help and/or advice here if I can. I have dear friend who is being taken to hospice tomorrow and he has a collection of bikes that need to go. I am not sure if i can get signed titles, I am not sure what the bikes are or the condition they are in, I am not sure of almost anything right now. I will know more Sunday after seeing and taking pictures of bikes and kind of finding out the story.

Has anyone ever been in this situation and could advise me the best way to move out the bikes and help the estate as much as possible?

Does anyone have any storage around Broomfield where I could store 5 or 6 bikes for a while until i can disposition them ?

I don’t think there are any “Sport” Bikes but do know there are probably a couple of vintage “RACE” bikes.

    Thanks.
    Marc

Hi Marc, as you know I have been in a similar situation with Debby Johnson. I think a lawyer would say that your friend should only sign over a title if someone is prepared to buy one or more of the bikes while he is still alive. After his death a title would be signed over by whoever is the Personal Representative. It’s slightly more troublesome than a normal sale because the PR usually needs to be present at the appropriate DMV and show some documentation to the clerk before signing, but it’s really not a great burden.

Thanks Eric,  I am going to go see what all there is tomorrow and then decide what to do. I still even need to talk to my friend and determine what exactly he wants me to do with them. I know a few shops that buy parts and rebuildable bikes so that might even be the way to go.  Thanks for the information.
